RUNNER UP: Bayonetta 2
Bayonetta was one of the games Platinum Games was so proud of. Following its success on the consoles several years ago, the sequel was one of the games everyone has been anticipating for. Changes to its development came in limbo but luckily, Nintendo picked it up and made it a Nintendo Wii U exclusive.
Bayonetta 2 is pretty much the same as the first game. What makes it stand out is the hack and slash style manages to be still fun. Graphically, it hasn’t improved a lot but things like combos being added made the game stand out. As always, Bayonetta is always packed with combos and in her second game, the execution is still flawless. One of the additions that Platinum Games did in Bayonetta 2 is the new Umbra Attack that makes Bayonetta’s combo more slicker and deadlier. While combos are fun, the game will get more exciting as co-op will be available in this game.
HONORABLE MENTION: The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD
It seems that Nintendo is jumping into the HD remastered scene with the Nintendo Wii U as the first game to do it was The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. As with all HD games, one of the things we can expect are improved visuals and Wind Waker HD did exactly that. Thanks to the impressive 1080p visuals, Wind Waker managed to stay colorful as it showed true accuracy to its color and presentation. While there is no added content to Wind Waker HD, the game managed to still stand out due to its amazing visual clarity. I must say it is one of the best looking HD remasters I have ever seen.
