Update: 2K Sports has now confirmed that Damien Sandow, Divas Champion Kaitlyn, Zack Ryder, Big E Langston will be some of the 16 participants in the event. The winner receives a trophy and an Xbox 360 console. Also, WWE Games Creative Director Cory Ledesma and Interactive Marketing Manager Aubrey Sitterson will be commentating the event.
As posted on WWE.com, the company will hold its annual video game “Superstar Challenge” event at WrestleMania Axxess.
Here’s a description of the event:
Watch your favorite WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends go head-to-head in a 16-person, single-elimination “WWE ’13” tournament on Friday, April 5, from 9-10 p.m. ET. Or catch the action streaming LIVE on Twitch.TV.
Last year, AJ Lee became the first ever Diva to win the event. This is not unexpected though because she is only a few people in the WWE right now that can actually play video games. Most of the other wrestlers just try and button mash their way to victory…
WWE hasn’t announced who the participants are for the event yet, but we should know later this week.
There’s no word yet if 2K Sports will be at WrestleMania Axxess. It will be cool if they’re there to announce the first details about WWE 2K14 though.
Anyway, if you are a wrestling and video game fan, be sure to visit Twitch.TV this Friday to see your favorite wrestlers try and play WWE ’13 as best as they can.
