Ever since the first Metal Gear Solid game came out, David Hayter has always been the voice of Snake and Big Boss. Hayter went on to twitter to ask if fans would be angry/sad if he wasn’t involved in Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes.
It was labelled as an “informal poll” as Hayter asked the following question:
“How would you react if I didn’t play Snake in the next Metal Gear?”
Hayter posted the results of the poll and 64% of his followers said they would be “Sad/Angry”. Only 12% said they “No Big Deal” while 24% said that they “would not buy” Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Overall, 303 people responded as part of his informal poll.
It’s hard to tell why Hayter would do something like this? Is he thinking of leaving Metal Gear to focus more on his scriptwriting? Or is Konami wanting to replace him with someone else much like Ubisoft snubbed Michael Ironside as the voice of Sam Fisher?
It will be hard to imagine playing a Metal Gear game starring Snake/Big Boss without Hayter’s husky deep voice…
