UK Gamers have voted that 1996 is the best ever year for video games.
As reported by ElectronicTheatre, UK retailer GAME asked 2000 console and PC gamers what their favorite year for video games was. They voted 1996 to be the best one.
It wasn’t a landslide victory, but 1996 came out on top with 14% of the overall votes. The year saw the releases of Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken 2 and the launch of the N64.
The year 2002 came in second. This was the year that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was released. Rounding out the top five were the years 1991, 1985 and 1980.
If I had to choose a great year for games, it would have been 2001. It was the first year I got a PS2 and I had fond memories of playing the likes of Grand Theft Auto III, Gran Turismo 3, Time Crisis 2 and Smackdown: Just Bring It!
