#2- Tomb Raider
The Tomb Raider series has been around the industry for more than two decades. Ever since the first game was released on the first PlayStation, many were instantly hooked on Lara Croft and her interesting adventures raiding tombs and unearthing treasures while dealing with the supernatural. As time progressed, the Tomb Raider series became stale and it forced Crystal Dynamics to give the series a reboot. At the time, Tomb Raider was being pushed out of the spotlight as Lara Croft’s role as the famous archaeologist video game character was being taken over by Naughty Dog’s Nathan Drake from Uncharted. Attempting to reclaim her throne, Crystal Dynamics rebooted the Tomb Raider franchise and gave the gameplay a major overhaul. Mixing Uncharted’s cinematic elements and the exploration that fans have come to expect from the Tomb Raider series, the reboot released to critical acclaim. It’s no surprise that the game sold over two million copies in two days.
