NPD did a market research survey on USA gamers aged nine and over to see how many of them would purchase a next generation console at launch.
The survey was completed by 887 respondents that were qualified to be categorized as a “core gamer”. Their definition of a core gamer is someone over the age of nine that plays five or more hours a week on an Xbox 360, PS3, PC, or Mac.
The study showed that only 29% of the core gamers said they’d buy a PS4 or Xbox 720 at launch. This isn’t surprising considering most consoles are expensive when they first come out and there is not many games that are available for a new system either.
It’s expected both the PS4 and Xbox 720 will be out before Christmas 2013 in North America and Japan. Will you be rushing to buy them later this year?

March 2, 2013 at 1:06 AMI can’t play with my old games, controllers, or content on either one (probably I mean unless Xbox goes God-Like and says yes to B.C.)
Why would I buy it?
Hell why would ANYONE buy PS4? PS2 just stopped making crap and that was like a 10 year span.
So more like it, my next Purchase will be PS5. Maybe they’ll give BC then XD
