No ‘90s Capcom Games Included
Although this collection is called the “Capcom Arcade Cabinet”, it sadly does not feature any of the famous games the company released during the early ‘90s. Since more famous games like Street Fighter II and Final Fight have already been re-released on the PSN and XBLA, you won’t find them here in this collection either. If you are a fan of the 16-bit era games, you will be missing out too because all of the games are from the 8-bit era only. Knowing Capcom, they’ll probably release a “Capcom Arcade Cabinet 2” which will feature games from the ‘90s if this first collection proves to be successful…
Most Games Unavailable Yet
It’s weird how Capcom is pretty much releasing what is essentially an unfinished collection of games. If you purchased this game in February, you only have access to only three full games and three demos. The first game pack only costs 400 Microsoft Points ($5) but subsequent game packs will cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Each game pack will be released around a month apart through until May 21st. If you want all 17 games, you will have to wait until May 21st to get it for a discounted price of 2000 Microsoft Points ($29.99). You can get games individually for only 320 Microsoft Points ($4) if you wish too.
Hard Difficulty For Some Games
If you were not born in the ‘80s or early ‘90s, you will not have been exposed to how hard games were back in those days. Ever since the PSOne and N64 era came, games became a bit easier in my opinion. Since all of these games are from the ‘80s, most of the games that are (will be) included in this collection are brutally difficult and require lots of skill and patience to get through them. There is a casual mode added here, but I found some games to be still hard even on this mode too. Ghosts and Ghouls is one game I will never beat no matter how long I play it for. If you are a new school gamer, it’s unlikely you’ll have much fun playing these games due to their insane difficulty level…
Verdict
Capcom Arcade Cabinet is a great collection of game for those gamers that would love to revisit their childhood. There is a generous amount of unlockable content to collect and the gameplay and graphics have been retained to their original glory. Bear in mind, Capcom’s odd release schedule for the game is questionable and expensive plus newer gamers may not like the simplistic graphics and hard gameplay for most of the games. Only gamers that love playing retro video games will find the most enjoyment out of the Capcom Arcade Cabinet.
