The Nintendo Wii U is not going off to a great start. Although sales figures for the Wii U were close to the original Wii’s sales in December, the month of January has seen a severe drop in interest for Nintendo’s new console.
NPD source estimates show that the Wii U only sold 57,000 units in the month of January in North America. Other estimates say the figure is in between 45,000 and 59,000 units. The Xbox 360 sold 281,000 units in the same month despite being an older console.
Nintendo has sold over 3 million units of the Wii U so far. The company predicted the console would sell 5.5 million units by March 31st. Their forecast has now been lowered to 4 million units.
