The Walking Dead was released last year as separate “episodes” and immediately became a hit with both gamers and critics alike. It was even Just Push Start’s 2012 “Game of the Year”. Telltale Games have finally revealed the amount of “episodes” it has sold.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Telltale Games’ CEO Dan Connors said:
“Since launching the first episode in April, players have purchased more than 8.5 million episodes. At about $5 per episode, that’s roughly more than $40 million in sales, not including any promotions. Each episode ends on cliffhangers, enticing the player to buy the next one”
The Walking Dead was also Metacritic’s top rated video game of 2012 as well so Just Push Start wasn’t the only website that rated the game so highly. With success like this, let’s hope Telltale Games is working on a sequel or maybe even a full length video game that’s not released a episodes…
