Out of all of THQ’s assets that were auctioned off the other day, Vigil Games was sadly picked up by no one. Not even the Darksiders franchise was picked up. It appears one developer is interested in buying it though…
Platinum Games’ executive director and producer Atsushi Inaba tweeted the following:
“Oh man in THQ’s big sale it looks like nobody’s bought Darksiders … I’d love to buy that (if it was cheap).”
Platinum Games developed the Bayonetta and will be releasing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance next month. The developer will be a good fit to make another Darksiders video game if it were to buy the franchise formally.
It’s unknown at this stage if Inaba was formally requesting to buy the franchise for real or if he was making a “wishful thinking” kind of statement. After all, most of THQ’s other assets sold for well over $1 million or more…
