Earlier today, Jeff Hickman, BioWare’s Executive Producer of the Old Republic, shed some details to the future of the game such as its upcoming Game Update 1.7 and the Same-Gender Romance that everyone has been asking to be included in the game.
According to Jeff, the Old Republic had become profitable to the company ever since it went free-to-play several months ago, thus talking about the bright future subscribers can expect throughout the year. One of the things he primarily talked about in his latest post over at the official site was a small detail on its upcoming game update 1.7 and the status of the same-gender romance.
Between now and the release of the Rise of the Hutt Cartel, gamers should be looking forward to game update 1.7 in which it will have interesting changes to a special PvP area that everyone has been asking about. Also, new content will be available where players will visit some of the old friends that they’ve met before, and the Gree Enclave that you’ve already heard about while playing the game. As usual, there should be more things coming on the next game update and we should hear more about it in the coming weeks or months.
As for the Same-Gender Romance status, BioWare is still hard at work in implementing this. Here’s what he has to say about it:
Topic #4: Same Gender Romance: Any news on this front would be great… Answer: First of all, I want to apologize that this is taking so long to get in the game. I realize that we promised SGR to you guys and that many of you believed that this would be with a companion character. Unfortunately, this will take a lot more work than we realized at the time and it (like some other pieces of content we talked about earlier in the year) has been delayed as we focused on the changes required to take the game Free-to-Play. As we have said in the past, allowing same gender romance is something we are very supportive of.
