Take-Two Interactive has just revealed that it has now shipped over 125 million copies of its very popular Grand Theft Auto franchise.
Although the Grand Theft Auto series made its debut on the PSOne console, it wasn’t until the release of Grand Theft Auto III for the PS2 did the series become a worldwide hit. From that point on, the demand for GTA video games increased and the series became what it is today.
Grand Theft Auto V is the next game in the series and it is due out for the PS3 and Xbox 360 in Spring 2013. Take Two is sure to ship close to 150 million of the franchise once that game comes out.
Bear in mind this figure is the number of copies “shipped” not sold. Still, this is an impressive number as it shows the amount of demand that a series like Grand Theft Auto can generate.
