4A Games has revealed that the sequel to Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light will not include multiplayer as it was originally planned to.
Since our E3 demo back in June, many of you have been asking about the multiplayer component of Metro: Last Light. We wanted to share some information with you, the Metro community, first.
The developer went on to say “we decided to fold this multiplayer team back into the main group and focus 100% of the studio’s resources on the single player campaign.” A key word to note in their statements is “ship”.
Metro: Last Light will not ship with a multiplayer component.
In regards to the possibility of the multiplayer component coming as DLC at a later date, they had this to say:
Right now we’re 100% focused on the single player campaign and not thinking beyond that. We don’t like throwing away work though, it’s a project we could potentially return to after Metro: Last Light ships.
Hopefully the single player in the game ends up benefitting as greatly as they believe it will as a result of this alteration. Despite the changes, the release date for Metro: Last Light is still set for some time in early 2013.
