We’ve been getting a heavy dose of The Walking Dead in video game form via Telltale Game’s digital episodic releases, but that isn’t the only game being crafted from the popular franchise. A while back, Activision announced that they are currently working with Terminal Reality on an FPS starring the brothers Daryl and Merle, two characters born from the hit TV show.
Now, Activision has announced that they have officially titled the first-person shooter. The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is what it’s being called and it will release sometime next year on current gen platforms. Here’s how Activision describes the upcoming experience:
[The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is] a do-whatever-you-need-to-survive first-person action game that brings the deep, character-driven world of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning TV series onto console gaming systems and the PC in a frightening, new way. The game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.
With Season 3 episodes of The Walking Dead currently showing the first gameplay footage (although very short), we may not be too far from a gameplay trailer. So check back soon!
