Konami issued a statement on its official website that the Xbox 360 version of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will no longer be released in Japan.
Konami posted the following:
“Due to various reasons, the launch of the Japanese version will be made only PlayStation 3, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience”
Konami did not outline a specific reason why the Xbox 360 version of the game will be absent in Japan. The only relevant reason could be due to the lack of demand the Xbox 360 has in Japan. The Xbox 360 is not very popular in Japan and even though the Metal Gear franchise is popular, most Japanese gamers would buy the PS3 version anyway. Not many copies of Final Fantasy XIII-2 were sold for the Xbox 360 when it came out in Japan earlier this year…
For us in the West, Metal Gear Rising: Revenegeance will still be out for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 in February 2013.
