At long last, the much awaited PS Vita 1.80 firmware that enable PS One classics is finally available for download.
By simply heading to the System Settings screen, tap the system update and download the 102MB firmware. Aside from the PS One classics, the new firmware adds a lot of new things:
· Control the home screen and some features in applications, such as Video, Music, or Settings, using the buttons on PS Vita.
· Variable speed playback, fast-rewind and fast-forward, and repeat play will be supported in the Video application.
· Music playlists which are imported from PlayStation®3 (PS3®) or iTunes*1 under Music application will be supported.
· “Cross-Controller” icon will be added to the LiveArea™ under the Remote Play application to enable users to play PS3 format software by using their PS Vita as a controller.*2

August 28, 2012 at 1:34 AMI called Sony tech support about this a while ago. N. America got the update, but PS1 classics won’t be available until the PSN store undergoes scheduled maintenance tomorrow. They said it should all be up by 7pm pacific.

It works with a ps3 just fine. However you can’t blame Sony for letting you update a few hours before the remaining part.

August 28, 2012 at 6:07 AMThe PSN Store hasn’t updated to add PSN Classics yet. But if you want them now. Redownload them to your PS3, leave them as that bubble thing. Then transfer them over via USB content manager. You can pretty much transfer most games, but the store will only have about 9 at a time during updates.

It has to do with coding. Sadly I can’t explain it further, but they can ALWAYS be updated. Unchained Blades and other PSP games were later added for the Vita.

This is a temp solution and won’t be the only way. Later today, you will be able to directly download some of them on your Vita. However it will be a long time before every / most games are downloadable on the Vita.
