More Intelligent AI
One of the biggest complaints in previous titles was how the AI could predict your moves or just randomly perform actions. Not only was this unrealistic, it was also extremely annoying to deal with. However in Madden 13 the AI will only react to balls it can see, so you can expect more realistic covering. This in turn makes the AI harder to deal with, because there will be more pressure on you to make the play.
NOT
Load Times
Since Madden 13 adds a number of fantastic new elements, you can also expect longer load times. Even doing a basic task like changing your uniform causes the game to freeze for a few seconds. While that is certainly manageable, it took me around sixty five seconds to load up a match so can expect some long waits. Thankfully these problems are do not occur in game, but it can easily discourage a quick match. With luck this will be patched in the future, but till then you can expect to wait.
Harder for Casual gamers
As you most likely know, Madden appeals to a more casual crowd. Since this group isn’t as skilled or interested in games, these changes might make Madden difficult to play. Considering there is no solution past getting use to it or playing on a lower difficulty, it might turn you off. However keep in mind that you can play like you did before, just expect to fail far more often.
VERDICT
Despite being a yearly series, Madden 13 is a huge step up from previous titles. The addition of the Infinity engine make it feel like it’s a new game and will certainly make online games more intense. This is only amplified by the more realistic animations, which has been a long time coming. While these are all welcomed changes, casual gamers might be turned off by the more complex controls. However for those willing to learn, it is a very rewarding experience.
