Even though the game was only released late last year, EA and BioWare have announced that MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic will be free-to-play.
The game won’t be fully free-to-play as some other features will be limited and free-to-play gamers can only go up to Level 50. Nevertheless, this opens doors for new players to experience the game since paid subscriptions for the game have fallen dramatically over the past few months going under the 1 million players.
EA will be offering SWTOR for only $14.99 in August.
Players want flexibility and choice,” says Matthew Bromberg, general manager of BioWare’s Austin studio, in a statement. “The subscription-only model presented a major barrier for a lot of people who wanted to become part of The Old Republic universe.”
