Bashiok, a Community Manager for Blizzard is issuing a warning to gamers posting on the official Diablo 3 forums. He wants everyone to know that spoilers may be posted from time to time in the forums.
“This is a warning to all that spoilers may occur both in these forums, and the internet at large. We’ve worked hard to craft an engaging story and fun game, and our hope is that you have a pristine experience. For that reason we recommend you exercise extreme caution when perusing the webs of cyber space.”
If you are one of the lucky few to have purchased the collector’s edition, you may want to complete the game on the normal difficulty before opening the art book or watching the behind-the-scenes DVD/Blu-ray. He mentions that “Both of these items contain big spoilers, and should probably be avoided until later.”
Bashiok also says that you may want to avoid the internet on May 14th, as that will be the day when the game unlocks worldwide. “The entire game will be available to be discovered and datamined. We also plan to populate the Diablo3.com game guide with item data that Monday, which may themselves be spoilers.”
For those who like to post spoilers with misleading titles Bashiok warns that by continuing to do so you will be dealt with harshly.
