Sources claim that it only costs Nintendo $180 for the costs of goods to manufacture the Wii U. Speculation has led that the console will only cost $300.
According to Canadian website, Forget The Box their sources say that the controller itself costs $50 to make. This means the console’s costs just a mere $120 to manufacture.
The website reports:
“Cutting production costs to maximize profits is Nintendo’s main concern with the Wii U. They are cutting costs in the Wii U’s hardware to build back confidence in investors. Nintendo wants investors to view Wii U as a less risky proposition.”
The report does not include other costs of manufacturing the Wii U such as packaging etc.
Will you be buying a Wii U for $300 when it launches later this year?
