THQ has announced that they cut 118 jobs at both Virgil Games and Relic Entertainment which comes as a result of switching the former MMO Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium to a single player and multiplayer experience. THQ released an official statement that explains what will happen to the games currently in development.
“Vigil Games will continue to focus on both this game and the critically-acclaimed new title, Darksiders II, scheduled for release this summer. Relic Entertainment continues to focus its development expertise on THQ’s franchises including Company of Heroes and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.”
This comes as bad news to those who were looking forward to the MMO set in the Warhammer Universe and it does not bode well for other games that the developer is overlooking. Hopefully we don’t see Darksider’s or Metro get canned before they see the light of day.
