According to MCV, the next Xbox will be without a disc drive. Their sources also claim this information came with one of the “strictest” non-discourse agreement, that they’ve ever encountered.
Apparently, the console will still support compatibility through some sort of interchangeable solid-state card. Just what type of card is currently unknown, in addition to many other details. However, a 2013 release date has been confirmed, though the announcement is up in the air. This could still fall in line with a 2012 E3 revealing, but again this is pure speculation.
While it’s great consoles are advancing, are we ready for a most / purely digital system? The previously released PSP Go failed horrible and even the successor the Vita retained retail games. Like everything else, take this rumor with a gain of salt, but this could be a huge selling / failing point for the system.
