Lord of Purgatory
Cleared all Purgatory stages (21-30).
Purgatory is significantly more difficult than all previous stages. Expect more challenging bosses and less realistic tasks. Stick to easier to control classes like Magi, than traditional classes such as Soldiers. Check the guide below for a guide to the harder stages.
The Fair Abyss (Stage 27):
Before you start, make sure you have lightning resistant armor for the Spearmen class. Without it, you can expect fail many times. Sadly you will need the key, so you must go down that path. Since there are several small rooms, you might be better off with fewer troops. Finally, make sure you head down the lower path. This is because the upper path is far more dangerous.
Buzzzzz… (Stage 28):
This is a tricky stage. The first boss is Slayer or one of the giant walking bugs. These are easily manageable with the Spearmen class, though the second boss is a Lord Fly. You will want a Magi for the Lord, so you got to think about how to go about the Slayer. I accomplished this with the Magi class, though you might be better off adding a few Spearmen too.
Dragons’ Paradise (Stage 29):
Select the Spearmen and make sure they have fire armor. Lightning enemies are more manageable, though they can waste troops easily, so keep this in mind. Since this stage has 5 dragon bosses, you want to kill them quickly. Due to this, the Spearmen class is a must.
Purgatory’s Soldiers
Cleared a Purgatory stage (21 – 30) with soldiers only.
Around this point the soldier class becomes useless, so you want to do this sooner than later. This means Malicious Ambush (stage 21) is your best bet. Just make sure you can deal with a Vileye army and Beast Demo (Gigadon I think).
Purgatory’s Spearmen
Cleared a Purgatory stage (21 – 30) with spearmen only.
Similar to the last area, Dragons’ Paradise (Stage 29) is a joke with Spearmen. This is doable on other stages, but might as well wait for this point.
Purgatory’s Magi
Cleared a Purgatory stage (21 – 30) with magi only.
Fallen Angel Summit (Stage 30) is a joke with the Magi class. Make sure to play smart and have good equipment.
Infamy of Purgatory
Cleared a Purgatory stage (21 – 30) with an overall platinum rating.
Around stage 30, you can obtain the “Holy Star-Sinker” weapon. This is an insane weapon for the Magi class. This is because it slows down enemies and allows you to sneak in extra attacks or avoid their attacks. Once you have this, stage 30 is an absolute joke. Just make sure you rush to the end as time will work against you.

May 27, 2012 at 12:06 AMThanks for the only useful guide I could find for this game. I managed to get most of my Platinum ranks within the first 10 stages. Using 70/30 Soldiers-to-Magi or 60/40. For both, I equipped the Bunny Ear armor that is one of the 3 free DLCs for the game. For weapon, whatever strongest weapons you have for Soldier and for Magi, it seems that Holy Star something weapon is the best.
The only thing left for me is Alchemizing every weapon/armor. I am not sure it would be worth the grind. Seems like one would have to replay stages 38-40 multiple times for whatever remaining materials are needed.
