[UPDATE] As this article has received a lot of attention, primarily negative, I believe an explanation is necessary. I am not as ill-informed as some readers have come to believe. This seems to be a case of poor wording on my part. In the article, when I claim “Call of Duty fans should immediately recognize this as a clone of Gun Game”, I used it to help make a connection between a newer generation of FPS players. The point of the sentence being that Call of Duty players would recognize the mode, not that Call of Duty invented the mode. However, the use of the word “clone” muddied things up and I realize that now. I have gone ahead and changed the statement below to clear up confusion. I apologize to those who were greatly angered thinking that I was crediting Call of Duty for Counter-Strike’s long-running mode.
The return of Counter-Strike is quickly descending upon us and this time consoles will be getting in on the classic FPS action. To satisfy our appetites for CS:GO information, Valve has decided to confirm the inclusion of two game modes.
VIP Mode selects one player on a team to be the VIP. Everyone else on the team must protect this player at all costs. If the VIP is killed, the team loses. The other mode that was confirmed by Valve is Arsenal Mode. Each player will be given only a pistol to start with, but the weapon in their possession will change each time they score a kill. Call of Duty fans should immediately recognize this as Gun Game, which just so happens to carry the same name as the Counter-Strike mod that spawned this mode.
Valve also revealed that ranked matchmaking will be included to ensure that players of similar skill end up playing together.
How do you feel about the two confirmed modes for CS:GO? Be sure to let us know in the comment section below!

March 2, 2012 at 11:55 AM“Gun Game” is not a clone of Call of Duty games. That term has been used as a game-type in Counter Strike for as long as I’ve been playing, since 2004. Populate a list of 1.6, or CS:Source servers and you’ll see many games entitled with “Gun Game” or “Reverse Gun Game”

April 29, 2012 at 7:33 AMHow much gaming knowledge and background do you actually have? Did you start playing games when Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops came out? Yes, Arsenal is a clone of GunGame. Just not the one you’re talking about. GunGame originated in Counter Strike. Get some background before you start writing an article about it.

April 29, 2012 at 10:47 AMReally? CoD clone? Remove this article and give your head a shake man. It should read “Old school CS gamers will remember this classic game mode that CoD blatantly ripped off”
