Sid Shuman, the Senior Social Media Specialist on the Official PlayStation Blog has recently revealed a few details about the PS Vita and its compatibility and support of other PlayStation consoles.
Shuman revealed that users will be able to enjoy digital PSP titles and minis from the PlayStation Network Store from launch however details on PSone classic titles will be “when they are ready.”
Talking about support of the other PlayStation consoles he revealed “PlayStation does not have plans to make PS Vita compatible with PS3 or PS2 titles at this point.” Later adding “Remote Play on PS Vita will allow you to see and control your PS3 from your PS Vita”.
Hopefully that clears up some questions about the PS Vita: even if the news that Sony is currently not planning on releasing PS Vita versions of existing PlayStation 2 or 3 games is disappointing.
