With the PlayStation Vita so close to release in North America, I’m sure some of you are considering accessories to go with it. With a plethora of them releasing next week, one of the more interesting ones is the cradle, which will allow you to dock your Vita as you watch movies or simply charge it.
Today, we have taking a closer look at the PlayStation Vita’s Cradle which will help you decide if it’s worth the $19.99 price tag or not.
Too Pricey and Cheap Build
From the second I first held the device, it was apparent that the build quality was low. The cradle is made out of plastic, though still looks quite elegant. Additionally the price seems fairly high considering the 3DS comes bundled with it’s own cradle.
Available Ports
Not only can you use the cradle as a dock, but it can also double as a charger. Additionally there is also a place to hook up an external speaker. You can find this located next to the charger port. Finally the placement of these ports are very logical and useful.
Keep your Vita Safe
For anyone looking for a simple, but effective way to manage their Vita, then the cradle will suit you. Despite the low quality of the product, it does its job by protecting the handheld from drops or scratches as it will simply stayed dock on your desk. The convenience of having a charger and audio out makes it far better as you can watch movies with better quality sound, while never having to worry about battery life.
Is It Worth Buying?
If you have a few extra bucks to spend when you pick up the PlayStation Vita, I would suggest getting the cradle for some added protection, though it’s not a necessary accessory to have right away. The price point could be better and would be a must buy at $9.99, but with what consumer’s are spending when they get their Vita, I’m sure your wallet will be empty by the time you think of picking up the cradle.
