Fresh off the press release, Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed that Mortal Kombat for the Playstation Vita will ship in Spring of 2012. The game is being developed by NetherRealm Studios and is specifically designed for “on-the-go gaming with brand new gameplay features and content developed exclusively for the new handheld device.”
“The NetherRealm team is committed to making sure that we follow up the success of 2011’s Mortal Kombat with an equally compelling experience on the PlayStation Vita,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “The original game content and new features we developed for the PlayStation Vita will provide gamers with the best fighting game experience available on the new mobile platform.”
Mortal Kombat has sold more than three-million copies in 2011, mainly due to the fact that the franchise has finally returned to its roots, something that MK fans have wanted for years. Perhaps now we can take our roots with us anywhere we want once this game hits the Vita. Personally, I’m excited.
