Square Enix did something with Final Fantasy XIII-2 which they haven’t done before. That is to use Western gamers to test out the game.
In an interview with PLAY3 magazine, Final Fantasy XIII producer Yoshinori Kitase said that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is the first Final Fantasy game where they received feedback from North American and European game testers. This is to expected since Final Fantasy XIII was better received in Japan that it was in North America and Europe when it was released two years ago. Although overall, the game wasn’t as great as everyone initially thought…
Here’s what Kitase said:
“Of course we respect our fans in the West. We at Square Enix have always contacted test players, but never that of western countries. For FF XIII-2 for the first time we now have some tests in Europe and North America conducted. We have there opinions and views collected, so we really know the opinions of all the games and play them back in the game.”
This is good news. Hopefully with a difference of opinion and with this feedback, Final Fantasy XIII-2 should be better than its predecessor. We can get a taste of what the game is like when the demo is release later this week on the PSN and Xbox LIVE.
Final Fantasy XIII-2 is scheduled for release January 31st in North America and February 3rd in Europe.

January 9, 2012 at 8:45 PMBig deal. The Final Fantasy franchise has been a laughing stock since XIII was released. XIII-2 has turned into somewhat of a farce, I mean, dressing up monsters, moogles turning into weapons and just listen to the hideous new chocobo theme song. They think they are being innovative with all the new changes, well then tell me why people complain about the series so much? Did they complain like this during the golden ages of Final Fantasy? NO. Why is this? It’s because people played Final Fantasy expecting a TRADITIONAL JRPG experience. Yes they always changed the aspects of the battle system but they left the core of it alone. I promise you S.E.: if you go back to how the games originally were, the only whiners will be the kids who only know how to mash the X button and watch the pretty colors.
