My personal distaste for Battlefield, or rather the EA bigwigs in charge of it and not the actual game, is well documented on this site. However, this is not my complaint here, but rather those of the Battlefield fanbase.
Server issues have been plaguing the entire spectrum of Battlefield 3’s online service, which is nothing unusual for an online shooter. However, the real issue here seems to be the lack of communication between EA and its hardcore fanbase.
A Battlefield 3 forum post illustrates the fact poignantly and illustrates the fanbase’s complaints to a beautiful distillation.
The biggest problems on PS3 have been AND continue to be VoIP and Input Lag. Since release, there have been thousands of complaints regarding this issue an yet there has been no “Official” word from EA or DICE on if a fix is coming for either.
We have been told that Twitter responses from DICE/EA staff and @Battlefield should be considered “Official” statements and, yet, they delete those statements as quickly as they type them to remove evidence that they’ve ever suggested a fix was imminent.
The latest such statement was a Tweet by @TomasDanko, DICE Audio, who answered my question about a VoIP fix by stating that it would be next month (February, 2012). Oddly, this Tweet has disappeared and I am no longer certain that this will be fixed with the release of the February patch.
Do you think EA will be announcing a fix soon?

January 16, 2012 at 8:42 PMThanks for putting this out on notice… all we want from this is simply that the VOIP works. Yet as you stated… we can’t even get a clear answer on that.
