After months of suggested hints and leaks, Valve has put a halt to the recent half Life 3 speculation and wrote a post claiming this was not the work of Valve. Simply put there is no ARG and any supposed expectations of a sequel to come shattered.
“You are being trolled. There is no ARG. Wheatley’s speech was set in Portal 2 fiction – that is all. There has been no directive from Gabe to leak anything. That is all false. I just want to say this so there is no confusion. This is the community trolling the community nothing more. While it is nice to see people excited about anything HL, I hate seeing people be trolled like this.” Chet Faliszek wrote in a forum post.
It seems the rumor spread when an unused Spike VGA acceptance video surfaced with supposed Half Life 3 code in the background. Various other pieces of evidence surfaced such as a shirt with the words Half Life 3 across it as well. Unfortunately, die hard fans saw this as a sign and rumor spread rapidly of an impending sequel.
Chet Faliszek makes it very clear though. We’ve been trolled good.
