So let’s try to get this story straight.
Blackwater is a shooter game for the Xbox 360 Kinect where you play as a member of Blackwater, a Private Military Contractor, or to use the more practical and much cooler name, raving band of shady mercenaries.
Rep. Jan Shakowsky, a Representative for Congress complained. Makes sense, the game is a fairly self-stroking one, doesn’t cast the company of Blackwater in any sort of negative light, and said it was horrible that they’d release something like this.
Blackwater was not amused by this, and threatened with legal action, only escalating the conflict…
So then Jan Shakowsky stated that the legal action was a “heavy-handed tactic -trying to intimidate a Member of Congress.”
But REALLY, who cares, of course it’s self-aggrandizing, they made it. When you buy a happy meal, you don’t expect the toy to tell you how much McDonalds’ sucks. You buy Blackwater’s game, you get Blackwater’s propaganda.
And further more, it’s a KINECT title. It’s meant to be a Kinect shooter. How can something cause so much controversy when it’s a Kinect title?
Unless it’s Rise of Nightmares. Maybe.
EDIT: Xe is actually no longer affliated with Blackwater. The original owner retains all rights to the name Blackwater, but Xe is an entirely different can of really cool worms. The article has been edited to reflect this fact.
