For a while people have been waiting for The Last Guardian. Many thought the release of the Ico collection was a sign of hope, but as time passed that seemed to not be the case. According to Eurogamer he left. but is still working on the project in a freelance capacity. After the projects completion he will move onto other things or so is rumored. While this is nothing concrete, this is definitely would explain some things.
