Do you remember the Grand Theft Auto games? Those awesome games where you can do anything? The original “pull a bazooka out of nowhere and take out your frustration on an entirely innocent passersby” game?
Well apparently we haven’t even begun to know what a true sandbox game is.
Dan Houser of Rockstar has recently stated a desire to see more in the sandbox genre. “It still feels that we’re only scratching the surface of that potential. But who knows what we’ll be doing?” he said in a recent interview.
Rockstar, and of course the extremely grateful world, is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Grand Theft Auto III, and it’ll be interesting to see what comes out of the developer. With glimmers and sparkles in their eyes, Rockstar might have more than its share of ambition, something that the gaming industry desperately needs, or at least to focus that ambition on something other than graphics.
“Hopefully we’ll continue to do interesting stuff, that’s you know, that’s kind of all you can hope for.”
