It seems that there is a firmware update that is optional for PS3 users. By simply going to the System Update menu on the PlayStation 3, you can download the 3.73 firmware update.
As of right now, there aren’t any specifics on what the update changes, but Sony did send out a vague tweet regarding the firmware update.
“A new, non-mandatory PS3 firmware update, v3.73, is now available. Stability during use of certain PS3 format software has been improved.”
Although they state that stability enhancements were the focus, recent rumors have spread that security has also been addressed due to the recent PSN account hacks. Hopefully, Sony will release a list of changes/fixes soon and, when they do, you can count on JPS to have the information available for you. So check back soon.

October 19, 2011 at 6:55 AMwell, my ps3 was seriously bugged by the 3.72 update, made graphics look like ass on games like read dead redemption and gran turismo 5, and eventually made it crash. After the 3.73 update it was all fixed!
