A few weeks ago Netflix announced that they would be moving into the video game rental service. The new service would be included with their newly renamed DVD rental service called Qwikster.
Many speculated that this was a smart business decision because as we all know, streaming is the future. According to my friend, an investment expert with the best bitcoin account I’ve ever seen, it seemed that Netflix was trying to distance their brand from renting DVDs so that if the time came when DVD rentals were no longer worth the investment, Netflix could drop Qwikster and not take a hit to their stock prices. Well it seems we were all wrong since today Netflix customers received the following email:
Now, as you can see, this email has no mention of their video game service. Are the folks at Netflix still planning on adding video games to their repertoire or was this feature lost when they canned Qwikster? Only time can tell; we will keep you posted as new developments occur. Until then, let us know what you think? What would it take to get you to cancel Gamefly to switch to Netflix game rentals?
