EA has just revealed that gamers will need to use an online pass in order to play Battlefield 3’s multiplayer modes.
This should come as a surprise to most people considering EA includes online passes for most of its games. Not only does EA have online passes but it has become industry standard with the likes of THQ and Sony including them as well.
DICE’s Alan Kertz, the core gameplay designer on Battlefield 3 confirmed this via his twitter account.
This means EA and DICE will make some money off used game sales of Battlefield 3 in the future. Online passes usually sell for $10. Just a small contribution you can make so the developer can continue making great games and maintaining servers.
Battlefield 3 is due for release October 25th for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
