It is safe to say that Battlefield 3 is not battling Modern Warfare 3 to top Steam sales. This isn’t speculation, it’s fact. Battlefield 3 won’t be appearing on Steam, but on Origin. However, where Origin is EA’s personal store and Battlefield 3 will invariably be topping sales there, in a free-for-all market like Steam, it appears that even the pre-orders for MW3 are staggeringly huge.
For three straight weeks, Modern Warfare 3 has been topping the sales charts on Steam, and this is simply pre-orders. The actual game isn’t even out yet. If it weren’t for missing the sales for the September 25th listings, it would have been seven consecutive weeks in a row. All in all, it’s appearing that Modern Warfare will be giving Battlefield 3 more competition than most fan speculation expected.
Though these would be hardcore fans. It’s the Call Of Duty franchise, of course it’s going to be big.
Fans can look forward to Modern Warfare 3 launching on November 8th.

October 17, 2011 at 12:32 AMI hate origin. You have to download origin to download bf3 to have it launch Firefox to ask you do download a plugin to launch bf3.

October 17, 2011 at 2:13 AMBF3 will outsell MW3 in the long run, but I’d have preferred BF3 releasing on steam as well.
This origin is a joke, and the web browser, w/ plugin launcher, is just too strange to even comment on.
Game play on BF3 will also be much stronger then MW3, visuals so much better, maps bigger, and so on.
Can’t wait to play the BF3 release game..

October 17, 2011 at 3:57 AMYeah MW3 may outsell BF3 initially but over the time of the game, BF3 will sell either the same or just more simple as.
2 people above me are obviously Steam, fanboy’s considering they are happy to run Steam in the background for no reason when playing, games but are not happy to run another program that the game requires because it’s not Steam.
Get a grip!
Regardless of whether it requires Origin or not or if it will be on the Overpriced, Overloaded, Steam should not make any difference on whether you buy the game or not and if it does then that’s, just plain old sad and pathetic.
Of course MW3 is going to top the chart’s considering they, are not only giving you MW3 but also Cod 4 and there is no real competition on Steam, to go against MW3 and it would still be the same if BF3 was on there because most people would still pre – order elsewhere or on Origin, considering even if it was on Steam you would still need Origin running to play the game.

October 21, 2011 at 5:31 PMEA has lost points with me. I have bf2 on steam. Steam does the updates, it centralizes games, its accessable anywhere and its convenient. I get a new computer I can simply redownload the software and don’t have to keep track of DVDs/codes. I’ll likely get bf3, but not right away in case they come to agreement. Having to install special software for each developer, or software title, create new passwords, log in and log out, and go to each major game developer’s site is not desireable. Hopefully, eventually a centralized repository will win out. New outlets with no history, always screw things up, have operational issues and you can never get hold of them. Think about bf2 loss of license issues. $60 for a game, at least make it convenient for customers who want to use steam.

October 22, 2011 at 1:19 PMYeah i was so excited about bf3 but origin and battlelog was enough for me to be ok with missing out on this game. If for some reason they decide to let people play without the need to install origin ill definitly be playing it. MW3 needs to do something about the graphics all the cod games are starting to look the same to me
