Guillaume de Fondaumiere the co-founder of Quantic Dream has today commented about how he thinks used game sales affected Heavy Rain’s sales.
de Fondaumiere explained that Heavy Rain “sold to date approximately two million units” but that due to the trophy system the company knows three million players played the title. He went onto add that that extra million was most likely due to second hand games which meant overall Quantic Dreams “lost between €5 and €10 million worth of royalties because of second-hand gaming.”
With the price of games being a constant hot topic with gamers is it right that smaller companies seemingly lose such a large percentage of their business revenue? Comment your opinions below.
