Jens Bergensten has revealed that Minecraft Beta 1.8 might not be released tomorrow due to reports of a very buggy pre-release version.
Many players that have decided to try out the pre-release of Minecraft beta 1.8 but have found it to be a lot more buggy and glitched than they had expected. Jens has said that “the current status of 1.8 is that I’m trying to fix the reported bugs of pre-1.8”.
He went onto say that while “it’s hard to say how long time this will take, tomorrow I will *at least* update the prerelease”.
So it seems that Minecraft Beta 1.8 will not be released too soon but the pre-release version hopefully will be more playable.

September 12, 2011 at 8:06 PMi think that we shouldn’t rush the 1.8 official release cause if we do its gunna end up just the way the PRE-release did very buggy and laggy and glitchy i have the pre-release and i fell through the ground like in multyplayer but in singleplayer so its fairly buggy

September 13, 2011 at 11:34 AMThe update on the Pre-Release should definitely sort out furnaces. I downloaded the 1.8 Pre-Release but its pretty much unplayable in the fact that if you try survival mode ore’s are useless, you can’t cook food and you can’t make glass, baked stone (meaning you can’t make the new stone blocks either), bricks, the new brick blocks etc etc the list goes on. So, lets hope furnaces get sorted out!

As of 1.8 Pre-Release, furnaces crash the game in SMP/CMP. Single player is fine, I think.
