Square Enix has admitted during a press conference in Tokyo that Final Fantasy XIV has damaged the “Final Fantasy” brand name.
Andriasang reported that Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada feels that the shortcomings of MMORPG game Final Fantasy XIV has “greatly damaged” the entire Final Fantasy brand name. He went on to say “We’ll continue with our reform work, which basically amounts to fully redoing the game, and hope to revive the FFXIV that should have been released.”
When Final Fantasy XIV was released last year on the PC, the game had major issues prompting Square Enix to delay the release of the PS3 version of the game “to meet customer expectations”.
Let’s hope Square Enix can restore the Final Fantasy franchise with the release of Final Fantasy XIII-2 next year and when Final Fantasy Versus XIII is eventually released.
