Visceral Games, creators of Dead Space and its sequel, will be closing down its Australia based offices come Monday, September 19th. However, this fate may be avoided, stated the International Game Developer’s Association, Melbourne Chapter.
“I’m hearing Visceral are meeting on Monday with HR whether it’s closure then or some redundancies first remains to be seen“
This would not mark the end of Visceral Games as a whole as the development studio is also based out in California and Canada.
It may, however, damage the chances of seeing a new Dead Space sequel in the near future.

September 16, 2011 at 12:40 PMAlthough upsetting, this news does not really hurt Dead Space from continuing on. Most of the development in the series has come from California. The clean-up/testing happens in Burnaby, BC, Canada. So the Australian office must be getting the axe due to redundancies within the company. Ea is just trimming the fat. Sad for the Aussie employees, but not for DS fans.
