THQ has sadly announcedthe closure of two development studios in Australia and one based in Phoenix, Arizona.
This comes as sad news as 200 of THQ’s staff is now redundant as a result. The reason for the closures is that THQ is wanting to cut down on the amount of games it makes and focus more on producing high quality games.
Brian Farrell, President and CEO, THQ said the company wants to shift away from producing “movie-based and licensed kids’ video games”. As a result, THQ no longer needed all the staff.
It’s sad to see staff let go, however as a gamer, it’s good to know that THQ is aiming to produce better games in the future. We all know how bad movie-based games usually are…
