Activision announced earlier that it had cancelled its proposed True Crime: Hong Kong game. Square Enix has now taken over.
True Crime: Hong Kong was shaping up to be an interesting title unlike its PS2/XBOX predecessors. Nevertheless, Activision did not feel the game would have been popular and canned the project altogether.
United Front Studio (who made ModNation Racers) will continue developing the game with its new publisher in Square Enix London.
Square Enix London Studio’s General Manager, Lee Singleton, revealed that Square Enix did not purchase the True Crime franchise I.P. True Crime: Hong Kong will have a new name instead.
Details of a release date have yet to be revealed. True Crime: Hong Kong was scheduled for release late last year for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
