The next update to Halo Reach, which should land some time in October, is bringing more than just multiplayer updates and tweaks.
Fans of the series should be excited because this update will see the return of the Magnum pistol from the original Halo game. That’s right. The over-powered, zoom-enabled hand cannon from Combat Evolved will be making its ways into certain classic playlists.
More along the lines of the usual contents of updates, multiplayer player tweaks are being implemented. Here’s what’s being changed:
– Armour Lock is not as effective anymore and will see damage absorbed be directly tied to the remaining amount of energy the player currently has.
– The duration of Active Camo has been reduced.
– Energy Swords may only be blocked with another Energy Sword.
– “Reticle bloom is now configurable, delivering increased accuracy when firing in rapid succession.”
– Owners of the Xbox 360 4GB model can join Campaign or Firefight matchmaking without the need of a HDD.
As previously mentioned, it is not known exactly when this update will be available, but we do know that the target date lies somewhere in October.

August 27, 2011 at 9:31 PMWhat the heck?! First off, Armor Lock being changed?! Not cool! Second, Energy sword can’t be parried anymore? Thats honestly garbage. I’m sorry, but that’s too much to pay just for the Halo CE Magnum.
