According to a source from Eurogamer, 2K Games is to make an official announcement on Borderlands 2 very soon.
An announcement for a Borderlands sequel comes as no surprise, however it’s interesting to note that the game is expected to be released next year. It sure looks like Gearbox Software (the game’s developer) is very busy as the studio will also be releasing Alien: Colonial Marines and Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 as well. Both of these titles are also expected to be released in 2012.
Making Borderlands 2 is a no-brainer for Gearbox Software. The 2009 original managed to sell over 4 million copies worldwide. Even Gearbox President, Randy Pitchford, boasted in an interview that he “LOVES Borderlands”. As much DLC the original game received, a sequel will please fans even more.
It’s rumored that 2K Games will be announcing official details on Borderlands 2 at Gamecom. Borderlands 2 will be on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.

August 2, 2011 at 11:22 PMPre-order, bought at midnight sale. I’ve purchased all DLC for the first one, played the crap out of it…and if this really happens next year it’s now #1 on my list for 2012 over Mass Effect 3, XCOM, Bioshock Infinite, new Darksiders, Ryse, new Prey…. Only thing that comes close is the new Metro.
