Amongst all the Gamescom announcements for Battlefield 3 was the reveal for the player count for the new Team Death Match Mode. DICE has confirmed that Battlefield 3 will support up to 24 players on all consoles in their Team Death Match mode. They also announced that this mode will not feature vehicles and will focus on tighter versions of the maps more suited to team on team battles.
24 players may not sound like very much compared to the 64 player Conquest mode, but you have to take into account that this is for smaller team battles on tighter maps. You wouldn’t want to play with 32 people on each team on maps built for small engagements, you would die as soon as you spawned onto the Battlefield. My only concern with this is that it may turn into a Call of Duty type run and gun system instead of the more tactical approach Battlefield usually has. Look for Battlefield 3 on store shelves on October 25 for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
