Sony CEO Howard Stringer elaborated in some detail as to why Sony was the target of recent cyber attacks resulting in the now infamous PSN crash.
Reuters reported Stringer talked about the issue during a Sony shareholders meeting in Tokyo earlier.
Stringer said: “We believe that [Sony] first became the subject of attack because we tried to protect our IP, our content, in this case videogames.” He went on to say, “I think you see that cyber terrorism is now a global force, affecting many more companies than just Sony.”
Judging by those comments, it appears as if he’s saying Sony wasn’t a lone target as hackers have been targeting many other corporations around the world.
Is cyber terrorism a global threat or did one organisation really set out to target Sony?
