For those who are looking to play DC Universe Online and other SOE related MMO games this weekend, prepare to be disappointed as it won’t go live anytime soon.
According to the recent posting of SOE via the DC Universe Online Facebook page, the servers will not be back online this weekend as they continue to work around the clock in restoring it. Below is the official statement that SOE released;
We wanted to let you know that our games will not be up this weekend. We are working around the clock to get our services back up and running soon. Thank you for your continued patience and support.
Since SOE still struggles on the recent attack that they received last week, the PlayStation Network servers has yet to receive a date on when it’s going to go live. For those who are hoping to have the PSN up by the weekend, don’t count on it.

May 7, 2011 at 11:55 PMIt would be grand if a movement could be started, one where everybody cancels their SOE subscriptions for good…I know people have characters and games they enjoy, but a signal must be sent to the online gaming industry. I know that MMORPGS are just games, but for many people who’s lives aren’t so nifty, these games are their primary social and entertainment stimulus. I could not fathom cable TV or internet services going down for several weeks just because some credit card info was compromised. They would leave those services running while they fixed the billing process separately. Online gaming has evolved into a type of utility service and it is simply unacceptable for any utility to be down for weeks at a time. I am no computer programmer, and I’m sure these systems are complex, but there is no excuse for them to be designed so as to become unplayable without risking your personal information. In other words, why in the hell is the system that processes payments getting in the way of people playing the games they love? Why don’t they just let people play for free until they fix their billing process?! If Sony’s system was not designed with this in mind (and who would’ve predicted that hackers would go for credit card info); we should abandon their services for a provider that can guarantee service will not be down for more than 24hrs…EVER. All other MMOs would fix their problems if people boycott Sony now. If your internet service or cable TV was out for more than a week, you would get another provider very quickly…we should too.

May 8, 2011 at 3:31 AMHey seagoat i must say i agree with you on this topic.. but soe has nothen to do with the psn being down .. just saying.. the psn was down sence april and soe went down early this week.. yes they are run by the same company but soe was only taken down because they beleive they could be next with being hacked… When they were not a target at all.. some assholes got mad at the psn for some bullshit (they cant jailbrake it and somone giting arested.) Honestly soe was not a target at all and should stayed online like they have untill the head boss said take it all down .. soe was around alot longer then the ps3 so i see this as bullshit to take it down for nothen .. especailly 3 weeks into the hack when nothen has happen to soe yet.. what they need to do is like u said alow online gameplay free or fix it wile people play.. and turn the fucking soe back online so people can enjoy the games they love befor its to late and people move onto other systems or mmo’s like WoW or xbox .. that is what i see mostly happening .. but i feel as nothen good will happen soon cause sony cant pull there heads out of ther asses and fix this promblem or atlest just put online back up for soe.. seeing no threats or hacks were made to them.. or so i hear from a friend who works for sony. If they did that it would narrow it down to the least amount of things to fix.. instead of just updateing everything from the soe/ps3/psp and sony crap.. this is a ps3 promblem and they should deal with it now all of us on soe for nothen..

May 8, 2011 at 4:09 AMYou know what? As much as i love sony and am dying to play black ops, all i can say is F*ck you sony. Everyday i try to connect to my PSN a ton of times, hoping it will sign-in. You guys are f*cking with us by not even giving us a date the network will be back online. I mean are we some f*cking kids that you’ll just keep playing with us saying- ohh the network will take 1 or 2 days to be up, ohh one week, ohh it will be up by the weekend and now ohhh another weekend with no PSN. I wish i didn’t spend my money on this console and could buy an Xbox. Sony you’ll officially suck cock now.

May 8, 2011 at 8:07 AMThis just proves once more Sony’s incompetence. Do they have only one person working on this? Any other company would be out of business if they delayed product services to their customers this long. I for one will not buy another Sony product.

May 8, 2011 at 2:35 PMYou (above commenters) are all seriously ignorant about this whole situation. Keep your mouth shut if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Both Sony and it’s customers are the victims in this whole situation. If you need to place your anger someplace, place it on the criminal hackers who illegally broke into Sony’s network and stole your information. Sony is merely doing the best it can under bad circumstances.
Would you rather they keep the network live when the hackers of the world know it’s weaknesses, and can continue to extract confidential information? Or would you rather give Sony ample time to rebuild it’s network so that all security holes are blocked, making further attacks unlikely to happen. Give them a chance, they are doing the best they can. You can’t reconstruct a network infrastructure as big as PSN and SOE overnight. Anyone who claims they can needs to put his head between his legs, and keep quiet.

May 9, 2011 at 10:31 AMOk, I agree with alot of the above comments, both for and against sony. Yes they may have gone overboard with protecting the information at this point but I think I’d rather it that way then to just sit by laxing like they were before the hacks. My one and only issue here is while I can’t log in and I keep reading about compensation with apollogies it seems that their billing is still on track. Just got hit with the charge for both of my accounts and I can’t even log in to play or access my account to take my billing info out. Now I have gone to the bank to put a stop to that but really why am I protecting myself from sony when they say it’s the hackers?
