Microsoft’s has issued a report that says their new firmware update for the Xbox 360, which will come out tomorrow May 19th will not work with a small selection of older models.
This update will come with a new disc format that’ll add 1 gigabyte of space. If your console can not read the new disc format than Microsoft will be willing to replace your console.
In a quote provided by Eurogamer Microsoft provides some symptoms of their being an issue with the new disc format “This issue manifests itself a as a unique ‘disc unreadable’ or ‘disc unsupported’ error on the screen. We are also able to detect this issue over Xbox Live and are proactively reaching out to customers that may be impacted to replace their console.” If you feel that you may be impacted by this issue then contact Microsoft’s general support here.
