After Rainbow Six Vegas 2 in 2008, the popular franchise from Ubisoft hasn’t been seen at all. If rumors are to be believed, it seems that may change this year.
LinkedIn has been the source of many premature game announcements, and it may very well be the same case for Rainbow Six. A sound designer by the name of Sean Popejoy has updated his profile saying that he has “developed Pro Tools sessions from Ubisoft audio for the game demo of Rainbow Six (2011).”
LinkedIn decided to dive a little deeper and found more evidence of a new entry on the horizon. Ubisoft had registered a new domain for the series back in September of 2009, Rainbowsix-Bd.com. It is assumed that the person who filed this domain name is, in fact, responsible for registering domains on Ubisoft’s behalf. This conclusion is made since they also registered the domain AssassinsCreedRevelations.com quite recently (causing similar speculation that Rainbow Six is undergoing now).
Without an official statement backing it, there’s no proof that we’ll see another Rainbow Six title this year or if it’s even still in development. Hopefully E3 will uncover more on this matter next month.
